The TransAm Depot, known for its previous resurrection of the iconic Pontiac Trans Am, has joined forces with the Swedish design firm Zolland Design to bring back the Pontiac Trans Am 455 Super Duty in the form of a 2023 model, featuring an impressive 1,000 horsepower.
This new creation was introduced at the New York Auto Show and is based on the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro platform. The lighter weight Alpha platform of the Camaro is expected to enhance the performance of these new Trans Am conversions.
Under the hood, the 2023 Pontiac Trans Am Camaro is powered by an engine derived from the 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 found in the Camaro SS. This powerplant has undergone significant modifications by a NASCAR engine builder, believed to be Arrington Performance based in Charlotte, NC. The engine’s displacement has been enlarged to 7.4 liters (approximately 455 cubic inches), hence the “455” in the car’s name. It features a Magnuson TVS2300 supercharger delivering 14 psi of boost, a cold air intake, ceramic-coated headers, and a 3.0-inch exhaust.
With a whopping 1,000 horsepower on tap, the 2023 Pontiac Trans Am Camaro Super Duty is poised to be a high-performance muscle car that pays homage to the iconic Trans Am legacy. This modern iteration combines the nostalgia of the classic model with cutting-edge performance enhancements, making it a standout creation for enthusiasts who appreciate the power and style of the Pontiac Trans Am.
