Meet the Shelby GT650 of pickup trucks – the F-150 Raptor R, powered by the 5.2-liter supercharged V8 known as the Predator. In a design study by pixel artist Oscar Vargas, also known as WB Artist20, there’s a vision for an S650-based Mustang Raptor R, imagined to feel at home tearing across dunes alongside the F-150 Raptor R.

The digital pony features a front grille and decklid panel inspired by Raptors, with quad tailpipes, a small trailer hitch receiver, and three marker lights integrated into the front grille to align with the Raptor’s visual aesthetic. Plastic flares dominate the sides, covering large rubber shoes and six-lug wheels, while tow hooks adorn the front.

The seventh-generation Mustang (S650) is set to go on sale for the 2024 model year, featuring an enhanced 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder turbo as the base engine. The 5.0-liter Coyote V8 boasts two 80-millimeter throttle bodies each, aiming to achieve 500 horsepower.

The Shelby GT500 is expected to return with the S550’s dual-clutch gearbox and 5.2-liter Predator V8. The F-150 Raptor R, prioritizing durability over zero to 60 mph off-road, employs a torque-converter automatic with heavy-duty components.

This imaginative design study envisions a Mustang Raptor R, creating a fusion of the legendary Shelby GT500 and the rugged F-150 Raptor R, bridging the gap between performance cars and pickup trucks.
